We hiked the southwest coast today. If you didn't see the azure ocean below, you'd swear you were in Scotland. The trail wound along a ridgeline overlooking the coast. You wouldn't even believe how windy it was up there! I was nearly blasted off my feet. Canon Powershot.

There is art everywhere. That is, if you count bumper stickers (slapped on every available traffic sign and public building) and hand written signs, which I do on both counts. This is a nice paring to the sticker that I found that says "Andre the giant has a posse". (?) I also have in my collection of photos numerous stickers that rant against hippies. (??) They seem pretty benign to me, but someone clearly hates them here. Again, the dreaded little Canon Powershot. Auto.

Palm
I usually carry a Palm T|X because I've got lots of medical software loaded on to it, but this week I've traded it in for a different Palm operating system...

Jump for Joy
After crawling past warning signs depicting jelly fish stings, dangerous cliffs, strong undercurrents and sharp rocks, some of the locals still know how to put on a good show.

These are "painted eucalyptus" trees (with some sort of shrub in front). We were convinced that the prints we had seen were photoshopped, until we came across this grove of trees on the way to Hana. WOW! They really look like someone hand painted them. Canon Powershot.

The skies change frequently here. I'm not sure why these look so threatening, in real life, they were dramatic, but not suggesting rain. I caught David snapping a photo roadside. Canon Powershot, auto.

Trouble in Paradise. We aren't sure what happened, but everything seems ok now. Except for the smoke messing up our perfect view! Canon PowerShot G10, f4.0, 1/1000

We stopped at a roadside stand yesterday, and I bought a large bunch of Protea. They have sort of a eucalyptus+lime scent, but I think that is from the foliage not the flowers. They are lovely. The air here smells of fruit and flowers, and the sound of bird song is everywhere. I don't have "my" camera this week (big regret), so don't expect too much. Canon G10, macro setting.
